Annika's 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage Being the youngest has advantages and disadvantages. One disadvantage is that the youngest often ends up with hand-me-downs. Since she started driving Svea has had: a 2004 Saab 9-3, a 2002 Honda Civic Hybrid, a 2002 Toyota Echo and a 2007 Toyota Yaris. Brigitta has a 2002 Toyota Celica that she has driven for the past 7 years. Annika has been driving whatever's in the driveway and since Brigitta left for China, Anni has been driving the old Celica. The 24 year old Celica has some structural rust, the exhaust has a loud leak and I'm concerned that it could drop dead at any moment. We didn't have a car for her that we trust to drive out of town, so we spent much of September and October shopping for a car for her. We had the same shopping issue for a car for Annika as we had for Joan's car, but an even smaller budget. Once again we looked out of the Toyota reliability box. Missing in most brand reliability reports is Mitsubishi; they simply don't sell enough cars. Mitsubishi has fallen into a cycle of making boring cars with limited features that have driven the brand to obscurity. But the reliability data that does exist indicates that Mitsubishi is about as reliable as other Japanese brands, that all gather at the top of reliability studies. The Mirage in particular was the second least expensive car model available on the market in 2015. It has a 74 horse power 1.2 liter engine that drives the 2019 pound car into the 40 MPG plus range. It's a simple, boring car, but at least it is a pretty color. It has 75,000 miles and we paid $3200 for it. Annika loves it and we expect it to last for years.

I picked up a Canon DSLR at a garage sale and handed it off to Svea to take to Australia. Joan, Svea and I went downtown for a hands-on photo lesson before she left.

Svea and Annika backpack hiked and camped the entire length of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. They spent 4 days and 3 nights.
