MARCH MEETING SUMMARY

Dr. Joe Foley told of his difficulty in joining the Navy, his training in north Africa , the subsequent medical duties on the beach at Sicily and on Utah beach, his service in a Navy hospital , and his attempt to leave the Naval Reserve. In north Africa he and at least 8 other doctors endured a 75 minute talk from General Patton. Our attendance was 93.

SPEAKERS FOR 2005: Do you know of anyone who served in North Africa, Sicily or Italy during WWII? If you do, please call Dean Smith. He is also looking for anyone who is knowledgeable about the proposed invasion of Japan or the intelligence service.

http://www.wwiirt.com . Dave is looking for your biography to put on the site. We

have about 50 biographies to date. At this and future meetings Larry Heller will be

taking pictures of our past and present speakers for posting on the Web Site. Our

membership list is now on the website.

SHOW & TELL.

As an addition to our usual “show and tell” Dean Smith will arrange for a few

members (up to 3) at each meeting to give a short (3 minute) resume of their

experiences in the military.

1. We gave $200 to the Fairlawn Recreation Department for providing us our meeting room.
