TOPIC: Aaron Fox, “The Marines at IWO JIMA”
AUGUST MEETING SUMMARY:.Gordon Simon recounted the major Pacific air and sea battles from Pearl Harbor to the decisive “ Miracle at Midway” battle. Aircraft of Japan and the United States were examined in detail. Some of ours were badly outmoded.
Epilogue: Professor Vye gave his impressions of his visit to Midway 50 years later. It is now a wildlife sanctuary.
