World War II – Korean War Roundtable

SPEAKER: : Dr Bud Wentz, B-17 pilot who was shot down over Belgium and rescued by civilians. On another occasion his B-17 was rammed by a German fighter plane.

JULY MEETING SUMMARY: William Wilsterman talked about the establishment and evolution of the Aerial Gunnery Training School at Las Vegas in WWII. Attendance was 75.

DUES: Dues for Sept 1 ’07 to August 31 ’08 are due. They have been raised to $15. We would have run out of money last spring except for the book sale and the in-house effort to prepare and send out the monthly meeting announcements.

2007 THEME: “Bring a Veteran”. Personally bring a veteran and his or her family with you to our meetings.

VHP: (Veterans History Project) Report:. We are in desperate need of more Roundtable volunteers to interview vets.

FUTURE SPEAKERS:

September 27: Ken Rogers: 45^th (Thunderbird) infantry division, was in the landing at Anzio in WWII. His regiment was on the line for 511 days. He was captured by the Germans.

October 25: Howard Claslin , B17 pilot in the 385^th Bomber Group, 8^th Air Force, European Theater, POW
