NEXT MEETING:

SPEAKER: Paul Swanson was a P-51 pilot
shot down over Yugoslavia.
He will relate his experiences in returning to his base in Italy
5 days later.
FEBUARY MEETING SUMMARY:. S. Joseph Krause, PhD, 4th
Infantry (Ivy Division) recounted the savage combat in the Hurtgen
Forest and the Battle
of the Bulge, where he received the Purple Heart. The 4th division
companies often had 100% casualties. It was credited with saving Luxemburg
City from recapture
by the Germans. His excellent book , “Falling Out and Belonging: A
Foot-Soldiers’s Life”, portrayed his personal observations of these epic
campaigns. Attendance was 78.

BOOK SALE: The Roundtable received 10 boxes of books dealing with
WWII and Korea from the estate of Alan Smith. They are on sale (price
range $ 1-10) with the proceeds going to the Roundtable. Currently they are
being housed in the office of Dean Smith. For the present he will bring a
different box to each of our next meetings.
2007 THEME:
“Bring a Veteran”. Personally bring a veteran and his or her family with you to
our meetings.
VHP: (Veterans
History Project) Report: So far in 2006 the Roundtable has sent 3 interviews to
the Library of Congress ( 2 Army from WWII and 1 Army from Korea).
We are in desperate need of more
Roundtable volunteers to interview
veterans.

yourself or to recommend others.
FUTURE SPEAKERS:
April 26, 2007: Richard Danielson,
US Marine Corps served in
WWII. He returned to active duty in Korea
including the infamous Chosen Reservoir campaign.
