SEPTEMBER MEETING SUMMARY: Ken Rogers: 45th
(Thunderbird) infantry division, was in
the landing at Anzio. The
terrain was very flat with little cover. He spent a lot of time in his
foxhole. The frontlines were
about 75 to 100 yards apart and the German rifle fire was very
accurate. He was captured but
escaped on the march to Florence and returned to the American
lines with the aid of Italian
civilians.
John Eaton talked about the
HONOR FLIGHT NETWORK which is a group of pilots who fly
WWII veterans to Washington DC
for a one day free all expense paid visit to the WWII
memorial. For further
