(and Mud Bog - 2011) 9-13-2011 ~ Blog #405 (David)
This weekend was Oktoberfest at the Akron German Family Society in Brimfield. Although the weather was nice on Friday, we had torrential downpours on Saturday and Sunday. The grass parking/soccer field quickly became saturated; as patrons fled, their cars dug into the mud and became stuck leaving severe ruts. On Sunday the crew covered grounds with straw which helped immensely. The girls each soaked and mucked up a pair of dance shoes and socks each day. Some of the dancing took place inside during the downpours. Attendance was better than one would expect considering the rain. Many hearty people stuck around and appeared to have a good time, however. My job of grilling sausage was perhaps a third to half the normal Oktoberfest rate, which is not too bad considering the weather was the worst by far in GFS history. Below are my 36 best shots of ~450 taken on Saturday and Sunday.
