2015 Los Angeles Road Trip

Colorado Springs

On August 1st be began our LA Road Trip by driving 920 miles from Tallmadge, Ohio to Junction City, Kansas. We didn't take any photos. On the 2nd, we made it to our old home town of Colorado Springs. We managed to find our old homes and favorite parks, but much of the city looked different and all of our favorite restaurants were no longer in business, except for one that was closed at the time. We also visited my old school (Mark Twain), Palmer Park and The Garden of the Gods.

Our first home, 4870 Portrait Place, still looks very much the same.

I used to run along Homestead Trail overlook while we lived on Portrait Place.

Many of the subdivisions in the background to the East have sprung up since we left.

Our third home, and the first that we actually owned, 1815 Wooten, still looks in good shape.

Palmer Park is a fantastic high rock plateau with incredible vistas in the middle of Colorado Springs. I used to bike through and around it regularly.

We gave up finding a place to eat and picked out a mix of things at Safeway in Woodland Park

Our second home in Colorado: 327 West Lovell Gulch, Woodland Park

Note our trusty steed. We had rented a regular minivan, but Budget Rental gave us a 10 passenger Ford Transit for the same price. It didn't get the best mileage (17 mpg) but the girls had tons of room.
